HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA.

-discover the wide range of yoga historically throughout the world

-read and study the yoga sutras

-study and incorporate the 8 limbs of yoga in your practice.

Understand what the study of yoga and the search for the Self (the search within) encompasses and how this training connects with the root of yoga, and also how your personal practice connects with that root. Understand the difference between yoga texts and oral tradition and their sources. Discover what other cultures and places searched for the Self through different practices including exploring postures. Understand that the study of the Self is far reaching and ample throughout history and that it is our nature to be on the path. Discover what the 8 limbs has to offer you as a practitioner and leader, and be able to bring yoga into your life and start to transform yourself and your practice and grow in your personal work towards Self understanding and discovery.

Module 2

PRANAYAMA AND PRACTICE

-bring consciousness to your breathing

-learn pranayama techniques including but not limited to: square breath, kapalabhati, fire breath, ujjaii, sitali

-incorporate consciousness of breath into asana practice

-Dristi and the importance of dristi

Explore and understand the extreme importance of breath in your yoga practice. Practice different breathing techniques, and learn how to incorporate them into your daily practice and your asana practice.

Module 3

MEDITATION

-learn various meditation and mindfulness techniques including but not limited to observation meditation, guided, silent, chanting and yoga nidra

-incorporate meditation into your daily practice

-Mudras: history, uses, and benefits in the practice

Explore and practice different kinds of meditation and mindfulness exercises. Understand the importance of a meditation practice and incorporate meditation into your daily practice.

Module 4

FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY BASICS


-using excerpts from different anatomy videos as a point of discussion and exploration

-range of motion and how that affects asana work

-bone and muscle structure of different bodies and how that affects asana work

-joint classification and composition

-different types of connective tissue and its role in the body

-understanding of the bone, muscle, and nervous system

ASANA WORK

Module 6

METHODOLOGY AND TEACHING


We want you to have a strong base to be able to structure and practice your own yoga practices or classes or if you decide to teach, you will be able to structure, sequence and cue amazing classes for your students and have a much heightened awareness for your own personal practice. You will be able to structure your own practice or a class with an understanding of different types of sequencing, different ways to bring awareness to the body, and awareness to the energy flow in the body. The training will be focused on being able to teach multi level classes with a strong base in how to teach beginners. You will leave the training with a strong foundation in class structure, sequencing, and how to communicate body awareness to your students. You will put functional anatomy into practice. You will also be able to bring aspects of yoga philosophy, meditation, and pranayama into your teaching and class structure. Learn the importance of ethical relationships with students and how to manage different situations, learn business and marketing basics and how to promote yourself and your projects. Explore how to use your voice effectively and develop classes with authenticity and tradition using the 8 limbs of yoga.

Module 7

CONNECTING WITH THE ENERGY BODY

Learn how Bandhas, Nadis, Chakras, Kriya practices and Ayurveda can be incorporated into your practice and your understanding of your energy centers and how energy moves throughout your body. Understand how yoga can affect your heath given certain circumstances and how it can benefit health when used with consciousness and based on ancient tradition, taking conscious nutrition into account.

3%-Bandhas: make your energy soar with the use of Bandhas in your practice: Mula, Uddiyana, Jalandara, Pada y Hasta Bandas

-Koshas: learn about and connect with the different layers of yourself.

Chakras: What are these energy centers in your body? What do they have to do with your health and energy?

-Nadis: The lines of energy in your body How to keep them open and running.

-Ayurveda: a brief overview of this ancient science of life and how you can incorporate different aspects in your practice.

-Shat Kriya: Learn and practice different cleansing practices including: netti, nauli, dhauti, basti, kapalbahati, tratak, fasting
